13 Facts about Mountain Strike Corps to counter China India China Military Comparison

Currently India has three Strike Corps all of them are ranged against Pakistan and are equipped for desert and plains warfare.

No Special Corps to fight China until now

Now Indian government has given the much-awaited clearance for raising a Mountain Strike Corps after several years.

Why it took several years?

Corps is based in Mathura

Corps in Ambala

21 Corps is in Bhopal.

India has an almost 4057 kms long LAC with China that runs into three sectors.

1)  
In the western sector in Ladakh, China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) controls most of the area that Beijing claims as its own.

2)
The central sector, at the UP-Tibet border, Already China controls Tibet.

3)
The eastern sector is the most contentious one as here China claims Arunachal Pradesh as its own and India is in control of the area. Sikkim also falls in this sector. China claims 90,000 sq. kms of territory here in this sector, which belongs to India. It is here for this area, India is planning a mountainous strike corps.    

Three Corps presently operating in Jammu and Kashmir including
Leh based 14 Corps, Kashmir based 15 Corps, and Jammu based 16 Corps were trained in ground war.

The new proposed Mountain Strike Corps would be fully offensive in nature and trained and prepared only for major offensives in case of mountain war with China

In terms of air forces of the two countries,
China has 9,000 aircrafts with 2,000 fighter planes while India has 3,000 airplanes with 790 fighter planes.
Chinese Air Force has equipped itself with stealth technology

In terms of naval strength, India lags behind China.
China has a fleet of 285 vessels and has added an aircraft carrier.
Indian Navy has a fleet strength of 145 vessels.

China’s military = at 22.55 lakh troop
India’s = 13.25 lakh military personnel.

Chinese Army has between 200-400 nuclear warheads compared to India’s 50-70, which means a big disadvantage.
 Regarding nuclear test India has not done one test, which is very important regarding nuclear warfare.

China had a yield of four megatons when it tested its warhead; India has not gone beyond a yield of 0.05 megatons.

China has multiple warhead capability while India is still trying to develop it.

In terms of range of respective ballistic missiles, China is far ahead China can strike all over India and even can strike USA

Mountain Strike Corps this would be India's fourth strike corps,

Main Role -
Offensive operations into enemy land, as well as India's first dedicated corps for offensive mountain warfare.

Mountain Strike Corps will comprise 40,000 additional soldiers to counter China's military strength,

It will cost Rs. 64,000 crore, to be spent over a seven-year period, and will empower India's military with an offensive capability against China

The Strike Corps will be headquartered at Panagarh in West Bengal.

The Indian Air Force or IAF will deploy its newly acquired medium lift C-130 J Hercules Transport Aircraft designed for aiding special operations.

It would, for the first time, give India the capability to also launch offensive action into the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).

The corps will have two high-altitude divisions for rapid reaction

The proposed strike corps will draw support from IAF fighters operating from renovated bases in the northeast. Sukhoi-30s have been posted at bases in Tezpur and Chhabua.

The new mountain strike corps could comprise at least three new divisions.
The entire process of raising the new mountain strike corps could take about six to seven years.

Mountain strike corps is also expected to have weaponry and equipment such as ultra-light howitzers suited for mountain warfare, Bofors 155 mm artillery guns, and attack helicopters.

The 290-km-range BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles are also expected to be part of the arsenal of the Mountain strike corps.

Strike Corps would be capable of taking the fight into the enemy’s territory within the few minutes and would be trained in launching the nuclear attacks.

China could win just by sheer numbers. If they throw enough people at you, you will eventually run out of bullets.

They've done it before, and they won't hesitate to do it again.

common people understand it but not politicians

Politicians do not understand military techniques and give figures to media. These media figures are used by us.
So if these figures are wrong then politicians are to be blamed.
I do not understand how border row happens.
MWL/123-GH/5T document clearly says that India treats border like badminton court.
